Chiefs Acknowledge Domestic Violence Claims Connected to Wide Receiver the Athlete
The Kansas City Chiefs issued a statement on Wednesday evening confirming they are aware of claims of abuse made public in online accounts by a ex-partner of wide receiver the athlete and were in contact with the NFL.
The team omitted the name of Rice by name in their statement and noted they would have “no further comment at this time”.

Dacoda Nichole Jones, who also did not mention the athlete directly, shared a set of images on Instagram that appeared to show indicators of bodily harm. She did say the person involved was the parent of her kids, and it is known she has two children with the football player, whom the Chiefs selected in the second round.
Police Reports Currently Not on File
No police reports were available in the Kansas City suburb where the incident is said to have occurred.
Rice's Recent Legal Issues
Rice missed the first six games of this season due to an league-mandated ban for his involvement in instigating a crash on a Dallas highway that resulted in multiple people hurt. He was sentenced a month of incarceration and probationary supervision after pleading guilty to felony charges.
On the field, Rice finished the season with 53 catches for 571 yards and five touchdowns as the Kansas City went with a losing record and failed to qualify for the postseason for the first time in a decade.
