Slot Asserts He Is Secure and Has The Club's Support Following PSV Eindhoven Defeat

The Liverpool head coach admitted that it's understandable for doubts to be raised about his position following a further convincing loss versus PSV Eindhoven.

Liverpool suffered their ninth loss in 12 matches, representing the team's poorest run after being relegated in the 1953-54 season.

They were taken apart by the Dutch league title holders on a difficult night at their home ground.

“I am feeling safe, I'm fine, I've received plenty of support from the top,” Slot remarked.

“It's important to reverse this trend and earn three points obviously but if you are coaching a team and not doing well then it's expected that doubts arise.”

He continued, “I am OK with my position. It is not the initial instance I've found myself in a difficult position but it's necessary that we turned it around.”

Conversations with The Board

Upon being questioned to expand on his conversations with the club's leadership, Slot said:

“We talk a lot. They are helpful to the team and to me and we have those conversations but they aren't calling me constantly of the day to say they back me.”

He added, “In the normal discussions I feel the belief. But I haven’t spoken to them after this match yet so it remains to be seen.”

Persistent Failings and Squad Reaction

The manager lamented known shortcomings from his Liverpool side in their Champions League loss, namely wasted chances and leaking goals.

Meanwhile, player Curtis Jones was blunter in his view of the team's situation.

“I haven't got the solutions. Frankly, I don’t. I’m saying that to everybody,” Jones said.

“It's simply not good enough. I don't need to wait to consider it. I'm beyond feeling anger inside. I’m at the point now where I simply lack the words.”

He added, “It's tough because I play for the team I support. I’m a fan, and I’ve seen Liverpool all my life.”

“In recent memory, I've not seen a Liverpool team experiencing a period like this with performances like these.”

Jones finished, “However we still have that badge on our chest. And as long as that badge is gone, we will always compete.”

“We’re going to try to get this team back to the top, demonstrate to all again what Liverpool stands for and the reason it's called the top club in the planet.”

“At this moment, we’re in the shit and it must improve.”
